Description: At the turn the century, the growing numbers of railroads and automobiles made suburban living possible as an alternative to living the city. The bungalow home was America's first response to the need for affordable single family housing in these first new suburbs. The gently pitched street-facing gable is a dominant characteristic of the bungalow style, as well as its wide overhanging roof, deep porch and simplified interior. A century later, our up-dated version of the bungalow provides a wide-open family room, with a large keeping room and breakfast room, as well as a separate living room and dining room. Easy access to the long side porch (which could be glassed-in) provides additional living space.
